This is a poem inspired by Langston Hughes from his work, "I, Too, Sing America"
From the depths of the oceans we rise
We sang songs of joy through glimmering eyes
We have our ups and downs
But as one we could cause this world to drown
Third world, a decade we hold before history
Yes we're immobilized and we could not break free
Lives we hold from head to toe
Yet we're the source they could not plow
We place the food, not only on ours
We make the world functional and nice
We are a sure foundation why this world grow
We are Filipinos who see to it that in your country, blessings will flow
We are united, we are Filipinos
Whatever happens, we are a part of this world
Yes we face a handful of trials and pain
Indeed we are many, but we are one in faith
